Sunday Setlist

Ladies and gentlemen, we are back in full swing!  With vacation behind us (boo) and Christmas ahead, we press on!  It’s hard to believe that we are almost through August.  Wasn’t it just 2009?  I remember back in the day when I didn’t have a kid and 2010 seemed so futuristic.  Good times.  Well, enough with the past.  Here is our setlist for Kingsfield this week!

All Because Of Jesus – Fee – We Shine
The Stand – Hillsong United – United We Stand
No One Higher/The Stand – Steve Fee – Awake
Our God – Chris Tomlin – Passion: Awakening

The Time Is Now

When you think about your plans/hopes/dreams when do you imagine them happening?  Is it a “someday” thought?  Is it “soon but not yet”?  Or is it now?  I don’t know about you but many times I fall into the soon but not yet category.  I want to learn to surf, but I just haven’t quite found the time.  I’m gonna go on a diet, but I’ll start soon.  I’m gonna redo my blog, but I’ll get to it next week.  I wanna start a new Bible reading plan, but I’m exhausted tonight.

Sometimes there are good, honest reasons for putting something off.  Spending time with my wife and daughter is more important that working on the Jeep.  I have a big step to take but feel God saying wait.  I need to start my new workout, but I’m sick.  Et cetera, et cetera.  But how often in your life is right time now?  Start the new habit now.  Start reading your Bible now.  Start praying for someone now.  Start saving now.

Whatever it is do it now.  Is your inaction holding back something amazing that God is trying to do?  Is your procrastination keeping you from doing something worthwhile?  Stop dragging your feet and get to doing what God has for you NOW!

The Mom Diggity

If you come here often you know I love to talk about my wife.  I try not to do it all the time so I am not THAT pastor that is always talking about his smokin’ hott wife (yes, hott with 2 t’s).  Don’t get me wrong.  She absolutely is.  SMOKIN’ hott.  But I try to broaden my horizons and blog subjects.

As you may also know we just had a major change in our calm, couple, married, do-what-we-want-when-we-want lives.  5 months ago a perfect little present wrapped in slobber, spit up and giggles joined us.  Well, my wife has really embraced her new role and is loving it!  She is officially a stay at home mom.  She now has the most important job she will ever have.  Being in ministry with me, she knows that we go through hard times and experiences in live for more than the “just because” reasoning.  So she has relaunched her blog as a full time mommy blogger!

For you guys out there, (apparently) mommy blogging is a big deal.  When we didn’t know what to do with our newborn issues, I would google and she would search mommy blogs.  Her answers were always better than what I came up with.  But now that she has refocused her efforts and is poised to take the mommy world by storm, I wanted to let you all know before you get swept up in it!

Go check out the all new The Mom Diggity.

Tell your mom.
Tell your wife.
Tell your friend’s wife.
Tell your maternity patients.

Trust me.  It’s the bomb diggity.  (Yeah, I said it.)

Kickstart My Heart

As I am headed back to work today and thinking about how great it was to be with all my family on vacation I’m wondering how to get my mind reengaged with life, how to kickstart my heart again if you will.  If you take a vacation well, I believe you should disconnect yourself from work as much as you possibly can.  If I am on vacation but constantly worried about work and things that I have already gotten covered, I’m not getting much of a break from one of the main things that vacation is.

So that’s what I did.  I haven’t read any emails or answered phone calls or made setlists.  I haven’t worked on the Web site or played with a single graphic.  I haven’t even picked up my guitar.  But now I am back and vacation is over.  Now I have to get my mind going again on all things normal life.

What do you do?  How do you reengage?  Or do you find yourself not actually taking a break?
